Effect of exogenous amino acids on osmolytes accumulation in winter rapeseed during autumn period

Remigijus Peleckis

Puslapiai nurodyti pagal pataisytą leidinįFreezing temperatures is the main environmental factor limiting the productivity of many agricultural plants. During the evolution process, most plants have been acquired mechanisms by which they can increase their freezing tolerance during cold acclimation. During period of low non-freezing temperatures in the plants occur changes at physiological, biochemical and molecular levels. During cold acclimation in leaf cells of the plants increased the content of most solutes and according several research reports at last some of these solutes may be important for the increasing of plant cold tolerance. Accumulation of soluble carbohydrates during cold acclimation is very well documented. Researchers supposed that they play an important role in the development of plant cold tolerance. On the other hand, several research groups reported that there are positive correlation between cold tolerance and endogenous proline content in the plant tissues. ...

B. Krochmal-Marczak, Sawicka B., A. Kiełtyka-Dadasiewicz 2013. The threat of potato crops by Spanish slug (Arion lusitanicus) in the conditions of South-Eastern Poland

Barbara Sawicka, Barbara Krochmal-Marczak

The results of the study are based on field experience, carried out in the years 2011-2012 in Żyznów. The experience was done on the soil brown, class IVa. The experiment was performed using randomized blocks, 3 repetitions. The numbers of snails was studied on 3 potato varieties: Vineta, Ewelina and Zuzanna. Estimation of threat to plants by this pest included determining the severity of their occurrence and valuating the degree of damage to the plant. Observations of density of snails were held from plant emergence to full flowering. For this purpose, 9 traps (3 on each variety) were used to catch the snails. Traps with baits in the form of fresh vegetables, were placed randomly in various locations on potato plantations. The largest numbers of Arion lusitanicus was observed during full flowering plants. The size of the damage caused by Arion lusitanicus was dependent on potato varietal characteristics, while meteorological conditions, limited the occurrence of Spanish slug to the greatest extent.
