4th of July is hands down my favorite holiday of the year. It was tied with Thanksgiving for a while, you know. But I finally had to drop that one out of the running, because it got a little too tangled up with all the holiday stress that comes with the end of the year. But the 4th of July isn’t like that. Nope! It’s all about family and summertime and NOT being stressed out.
Also,the food. 4th of July food is the BEST holiday food of the entire year. The meat is grilled, the fruit is fresh, and the desserts are creamy and delicious. How could it get any better?!
Here are a few festive breakfast ideas to kick off your 4th of July.
We’realways decorating the kids’ bikes and wagons for the parade up until the last moment on the morning of the 4th, so we rarely sit down and have a Red, White, and Blue breakfast. But if we did, here are some festive recipes I’d consider:
- Red Velvet Crepes (with blueberries and whipped cream)
- Red Velvet Scones
- Apple Pie Bread Pudding
- Strawberry Shortcake Donuts
- Overnight Blueberry French Toastor Blueberry Bread
Let’s fire up the Grill!
After the parade we’ll be grilling Johnsonville Firecracker Brats, jumping in the pool, and playing cornhole!
Johnsonville’s brats are my go-to for grilling this summer. You can’t spell SAUSAGE without U-S-A!
My husband and I were DYING over Johnsonville’s seasonal Firecracker Brats (they’re only here for a limited time, so hurry and pick some up ASAP)! They have just the right amount of kick— not too much (FYI I’m a total wuss when it comes to spicy), but enough to really make the flavor come alive. You will not regret grabbing a few packs of these for your 4th of July grilling this year, I promise!
How do you like your brats?? If you were wondering about us… Chris and I are firm believers that there is only one way ☝???? to eat a brat: in a bakery-soft bun, topped with raw onions, grainy mustard, and J-Dawgs sauce (a super sweet BBQ sauce from our favorite hot dog joint in Provo).
You know what goes with grilling? Cornhole.
Are you guys into cornhole?! My husband and Ilove playing yard games on summer evenings while the grill is going. Our very favorite is cornhole. We started playing this a few years ago together, and my husband even made these AMAZING custom BYU boards for us!
I mean, really. These are outrageously cool! I’m pretty stinking proud of him.
This year, we’re checking out the American Cornhole League’s Pro Invitational event at Coney Island, sponsored by Johnsonville, which is airing on ESPN2 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. ET on July 4.
